Don't Cry Over Spilled Milk

Yesterday I wasn't feeling so great, so I didn't really eat anything. When it was time for my bedtime routine, I followed protocol-read book, feel sleepy, turn off light, go to sleep. But the sleeping part evaded me...my mind was racing and my tummy was telling me it was hungry. I did something I rarely ever do-I decided to turn my light back on and get out of bed and get something to eat so my tummy wasn't mad all night. I went to the kitchen and got me a bowl of cereal and used the last of my milk. I decide to eat this delicious midnight meal in my bed. Something terrible happened as I sat on my bed and crossed my legs, I spilled the entire bowl upside down ALL OVER MY BED! I was so sad, my milk was gone so there was not an option of having another bowl, my sheets were wet(when I moved I left all my extra sets of sheets in my closet at my parents house), and when I removed my sheets the milk had seeped through and my mattress was soaked. It was kind of an awkward moment and of course suddenly sleep wanted to be my best friend. Needless to say I concocted some sort of bottom sheet out of what I did have and feel asleep. But for reals, I really wanted to cry over that spilled milk, cuz it was a total bummer!

The Big Apple

I went to New York two months ago and only took a few pictures, but I had a BLAST! I went with two of my friends from work and we had the best time. We ate sooooo much good food, met some really nice people, met up with a friend who moved there, saw some AMAZING shows, took a dance class at the Broadway Dance Center (check that off my bucket list), laughed the whole time, drank a lot of diet coke, saw a friend dance for the first time in 10 years and she was INCREDIBLE, ate more good food, saw the new 9/11 Memorial, walked through Central Park, ordered pizza to the hotel lobby and proceeded to eat almost the whole DELICIOUS pizza in our hotel room, and planned my dream move to New York. It was one of the funnest trips I have ever been on!

Also on my list of things I have done recently: Started to re-watch Alias, camped out on the parade route in Provo for the 4th, seen some great movies, watched fabulous friends perform in shows, auditioned for shows, experienced my first spin class at the gym, and currently I am am obsessed with the Olympics!

What is this Summer You Speak Of?

Summer time! I haven't had a summer without rehearsals or a show for 5 years. I have a new found freedom and excitement about summer, it is like being a kid again!
I bought The Pass of All Passes for a whopping $10, which means I can go to lots of fun places for free! Since I have moved to the unmentionable "south", I live rather close to Seven Peaks. I went there this week for the first time since I was 10 years old. I had the BEST time! I discovered that I feel way more scared than I did as a kid. The first slide was scary, but fun and did include the largest wedgie I have ever had-it was a great welcome back gift! The same slide that was my favorite when I was a kid was still my favorite. Other things I love about summer:  being out late and enjoying the perfect temperature, hiking, running in the sprinklers, swimming, floaties, the arts festival and sunshine!

HOORAY FOR SUMMER! I have to say, I love this summer thing people have been talking about, glad I can be reintroduced! Go out and enjoy your summer! Feel free to post your favorite summertime activities, so that I can add to my list of things to enjoy!

A Glimpse

I apologize to the few who do actually read my blog for the many posts about Zorro. This will be my last. I have laid Zorro to rest. We closed last week. I have never been so ready for a show to end and so sad to see it go. This show was the most challenging, frustrating, growing, and exciting show I have ever done. I grew more from this experience than any other show I have been part of. I shared a dressing room with some of the most inspiring women I have ever known. We would laugh together and cry together and we would share serious and silly things with each other. I was so excited to see my ladies every other day and I miss them dearly. There really is something so powerful about women who support each other and lift each other up. I am relieved to have some time on my plate, as I have been doing shows or rehearsing for a show since last July. I am so glad I get to carry this experience with me and move forward as a stronger, better, more confident person. Thank you Zorro.

Here is a glimpse of some pictures-these were taken by the very talented Doug Carter who does the photography for the Hale.

Contentment

Thank you 2012, for helping me find contentment. Today I am going to make a list of things that have made me smile in the last while (rhyme was unintentional).
These are three people who make me smile!!

  • Girl Scout cookies
  • Cardigans!!!!!
  • Shopping!!! I have missed it dearly.
  • The love and support of people who barely know me

ZORRO!

(This is an actual picture of the leads in our show. It's is amazing!)

Zorro-the Musical is going to be playing at the Hale Center Theater West Valley FEB.15-APRIL 11, and I will be in the Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday cast. YOU MUST COME SEE IT!!

You may be thinking you have never heard of this musical...that's because it has never been done in the US before, it opened in London on the West End and traveled Europe. So we are lucky enough to be doing the US Premier of the show.

This show has been a labor of love for all us. I have never had to work so hard for a show in my life. The flamenco dancing is legit and was choreographed by Solange Gomez who is the only flemanco dancer in the state of Utah and she is phenomenal. The rehearsals have been grueling and exhausting, and sometimes I am pretty sure I will never get the counts down or be able to do what I am being asked to do, but oh my word, it is amazing! I am so grateful for the chance I have had to be part of this, it has kicked my butt and been a learning experience!
COME SEE IT!!!!

To Infinity and Beyond!

That look on Woody's face says a lot about how I have been feeling recently. I feel like I have been stretched beyond what I ever imagined was possible...but in a good way!
Sometimes I think I have seen it all and learned everything I needed to know about myself and my abilities (feel free to judge, as that is a stupid thing to think). I have done lots of scary, hard and trying things in the last few weeks and somehow I come through it stronger and better.
It is amazing to realize how much more potential there is in each of us. I have seen others around me push through some of the toughest things, they didn't think they would make it through, and they come out better and stronger. It never ceases to amaze me how resilient people are and how much we can learn and accomplish with the strength of the people who surround us and the loving care and guidance of our Heavenly Father.
TO INFINITY AND BEYOND!
